he-bi-ko; 木削り教室

Hi,
This is He-bi-ko, made by daysofWLA at wood carving class.
She tried to make spoon at first but she knew that enjoying carving is more inportant than making tool.
As wood carving teacher said, if you try to make tool, it means you will be a principal and wood will became a accessory.

After she carved out me, she had named me as he-bi-ko. Maybe she got a hint from book title of "はるさきのへびby椎名誠".

Since I was a piece of wood of "Yakusugi" and I have a tiny, thousands annual ring on my body. Because in Yakushima, weather is so severe that cedar cannot grow well under heavy strom. For many years, they made tiny growths and made them selves beautiful layer.

If you smell me, you feel being relax by fragrance of Japanese cedar.
